Tips for Warming Up!
Warming up is a vital but sometimes overlooked part of a well-developed workout plan. An adequate warm-up can prepare your body for a great workout and help you get energized and motivated before you start training.
- Spending 5 to 10 minutes on activities such as walking on the treadmill, using the elliptical machine or riding the stationary bike is a great way to get your body primed for your workout.
- Deeper breathing, increased sweating and a higher heart rate are all good indicators that your body is getting warmed up.
- Try to avoid activities such as running or skipping rope until you are thoroughly warmed up. Otherwise, such high-impact activities can cause injury.
- Stretching should be done before your workout, but after warming up. Trying to stretch if you are not warmed up can increase the risk of injury.
